The New Rotax Plasma Cylinder: Everything You Need to Know
Why Has Rotax Introduced the New Plasma Cylinder? - What is the Customer Pricing and Replacement Cylinder Eligibility?
Why Has Rotax Introduced the New Plasma Cylinder?
The introduction of the new Rotax Plasma Cylinder follows changes to the manufacturing and supply chain of the existing Nikasil-coated cylinder. To ensure continued production and long-term component availability, BRP-Rotax has invested in bringing cylinder manufacturing in-house in Austria.
This transition has enabled Rotax to implement advanced plasma coating technology alongside updated manufacturing processes, with a focus on production consistency, quality control and engine parity. The new cylinder has been developed to maintain comparable performance characteristics to its predecessor while securing the future supply of cylinders for the Rotax MAX engine range.
Customer Pricing and Replacement Cylinder Eligibility
To support the transition to the new Rotax Plasma Cylinder, Rotax is offering a 45% discount on replacement cylinders for a limited time, helping to reduce the cost of upgrading for existing engine owners.
Customers who purchased a new Rotax engine after 1st July 2026 will also be eligible for a free replacement Plasma Cylinder, subject to the applicable eligibility criteria.
In addition, RPM Racing Engines will be offering discounted fitting services for the new Plasma Cylinder, helping customers minimise the overall cost of the changeover. All installations will be carried out by our experienced engine technicians to ensure correct assembly and compliance with Rotax technical specifications.
